President Christodoulides in Doha for official visit to Qatar

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Niκos Christodoulides, is in Doha in view of his official visit to Qatar.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency, the President of the Republic was received at the airport of the Qatari capital by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi on the evening of 26 November.

As stated, on the morning of Monday, 27 November morning, the President of the Republic will hold a meeting with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and will then (at 10 am Cyprus time) visit the Palace, where he will be officially received and attend a private meeting with the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, followed by extended talks between the delegations of the two countries.

It is added that the President will participate in a lunch hosted in his honour by the Emir of Qatar, and in the afternoon he will tour the Expo 2023 "Green Desert, Better Environment" exhibition grounds.

In addition, it is noted that in the framework of the President's official visit to Qatar, a Memorandum of Understanding for bilateral cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research will be signed in the morning at the Qatari Ministry of Education, which will be signed on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus by Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki.

The President of the Republic will be accompanied during his contacts in Doha, in addition to the Deputy Minister to the President, by the Director of his Diplomatic Office Marilena Raouna, the Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou and the Ambassador of the Republic to Qatar Nicolas Manolis, the statement concludes.
