Nadia Karayianni: “Training has moved beyond HR strategy and has become part of business strategy”

Nadia Karayianni, Head of Business Development at Learning Edge/CARDET, highlighted the growing importance of integrating employee training and professional development into organisations' broader business strategies.

Speaking at Inspire 2026’s ‘Future of Work’ stage, Karayianni explained that continuous learning is no longer exclusively an HR responsibility but an essential component of organisational growth.

“Training has moved beyond HR strategy and has become part of business strategy,” she said.

According to Karayianni, companies increasingly recognise that achieving their strategic objectives requires employees with the appropriate competencies.

She noted growing interest among senior executives in participating in training initiatives and establishing comprehensive development programmes across different organisational levels.

Karayianni explained that businesses are increasingly seeking structured learning opportunities tailored to their workforce and long-term objectives.

She also emphasised the importance of adapting to changing professional requirements, highlighting that career development should not be viewed as a fixed or linear process.

“People who are already employed can also change careers,” she said, stressing that individuals can develop transferable skills through continuous learning and personal responsibility.

Karayianni encouraged professionals to look beyond their current positions and recognise that developing new capabilities can create opportunities for career transitions and personal growth.
