In August 2026, deposits and loans in Cyprus recorded a net increase, according to data published by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).
Total deposits in August 2026 recorded a net increase of €171.5 million, compared with a net increase of €562.3 million in July 2026.
According to the CBC, the annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 6.5%, compared with 6.2% in July 2026.
The outstanding amount of total deposits reached €59.3 billion in August 2026, while deposits of Cyprus residents exhibited an increase of €175.3 million.
Specifically, deposits of non-financial corporations increased by €60.2 million, while households’ deposits recorded a decrease of €1.9 million. Deposits of the remaining domestic sectors exhibited a total increase of €117 million.
At the same time, total loans in August 2026 recorded a net increase of €114.6 million, compared with a net decrease of €68.7 million in July 2026.
The annual growth rate of total loans stood at 11.8%, compared with 11.1% in July 2026.
The outstanding amount of total loans reached €28.5 billion in August 2026, while loans to Cyprus residents exhibited an increase of €36.5 million.
Particularly, loans to households and non-financial corporations increased by €12.6 million and €32.4 million respectively. Loans to the remaining domestic sectors exhibited a total decrease of €8.5 million.
