For the third consecutive year, the state budget posts a fiscal surplus, which is expected to reach around 4% of GDP in 2027, while public debt continues to decline and is expected to fall to 45.2% of GDP by the end of 2027, Finance Minister Makis Keravnos said during the submission of the 2027 state budget to the House of Representatives.
According to the Ministry of Finance, as Keravnos said, the economy is expected to grow by 2.9%, unemployment to stand at around 3.8%, and inflation to fall to 2.5%.
“We look forward to a constructive dialogue with the House of Representatives so that the Budget can be approved in a timely manner and its fiscal balance maintained” Keravnos noted.
