Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry Michalis Damianos is travelling to Brussels to participate in the Competitiveness Council (Internal Market and Industry) on Thursday, 24 September.
Ministers, according to a press release issued by the Ministry, will hold a policy debate on the regulation on a European Chips Act 2.0, which was presented by the European Commission on 3 June, and aims to strengthen Europe's semiconductor industry, reduce foreign dependencies, and boost local demand for chips.
The EU Presidency will also brief Ministers on the progress of three important legislative files, namely the Industrial Production Acceleration Act, the Regulation on the legal framework for the 28th regime (EU Inc.) and the Regulation establishing the European Competitiveness Fund.
The Competitiveness Council will conclude with a working lunch, during which Ministers will discuss the topic 'Integrating economic security into EU competitiveness policy.'
