George Karatzias and Loukas Lagoudis met with Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos, to sign the contracts formalising their appointment to the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) as Chairman and Vice-Chairman, respectively. Their appointment has been in effect since 15 September.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance, the contract signing marks the beginning of a new chapter for CySEC, "placing it in the hands of individuals with the knowledge and experience to lead it forward with consistency and purpose."
Keravnos wished Karatzias and Lagoudis "every success in their new roles," assuring them that the Ministry of Finance remains at their disposal to support their work.
The Cyprus Securities & Exchange Commission (CySEC) continues to serve as the authority responsible for supervising Cyprus's capital market, safeguarding investor protection and confidence in the country's financial system, the Ministry noted, adding that it operates as an independent supervisory authority while maintaining, as required under the relevant legislation, close cooperation with the Ministry of Finance in the exercise of its duties.
