Acting Mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforou, received the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Cyprus, Yang Yundong, on Thursday at Paphos Town Hall, alongside members of the Municipal Council, on the occasion of the photographic exhibition “China Through the Lens of Cypriot Photographers”. The exhibition is part of celebrations marking 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Cyprus and the People’s Republic of China.

According to a statement issued by the municipality, during the meeting Onisiforou welcomed the Chinese Ambassador to Paphos, underlining the historically strong relations and the bonds of friendship and cooperation linking the city with China.

"Particular emphasis was placed on further strengthening relations and creating new opportunities for cooperation and exchanges in areas of common interest. At the same time, the importance of people-to-person contact, culture and joint initiatives was highlighted as means that contribute to mutual understanding and the strengthening of ties between the two peoples," the statement added.

The photographic exhibition, according to the Municipality of Paphos, is another initiative showcasing the bonds of friendship between Cyprus and China through the perspective of Cypriot photographers.
