Total loans in Cyprus recorded a net decrease of €68.7 million in July compared with the previous month, mainly due to loan repayments of €90 million by residents of other euro area member states.
Total deposits, meanwhile, recorded a net increase of €562.3 million compared with June 2026, driven by a €603.2 million rise in deposits from Cyprus residents.
According to data released by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) on Thursday, the net decrease in total loans in July followed a net increase of €499.4 million in June. The outstanding amount of total loans stood at €28.3 billion at the end of July.
The annual growth rate of total loans slowed to 11.1%, from 11.6% in June 2026.
Loans to Cyprus residents increased by €1.8 million, the CBC said.
More specifically, loans to households rose by €65.7 million, while loans to non-financial corporations decreased by €79.6 million. Loans to all other domestic sectors increased by a combined €15.8 million.
Deposits
Total deposits recorded a net increase of €562.3 million in July 2026, compared with a net increase of €601.2 million in June, according to the CBC.
Their annual growth rate accelerated to 6.2%, from 5.0% in June. The outstanding amount of total deposits reached €59.2 billion at the end of July.
Deposits from Cyprus residents increased by €603.2 million.
Household deposits rose by €195.7 million, while deposits from non-financial corporations increased by €257.1 million. Deposits from all other domestic sectors rose by a combined €150.4 million.
