The annual increase in the prices of fuels and lubricants for personal transport in Cyprus stood at 18.6 per cent in June 2026, according to data published on Wednesday by Eurostat.
Cyprus is among the countries with the highest increases in the EU, as annual increases across the Member States ranged from 2.3% in Hungary to 26.0% in Bulgaria.
According to Eurostat, Cyprus was one of the two EU countries which recorded an increase between May and June 2026. Specifically, in Cyprus the price of petrol rose by 0.7 per cent, while in Italy it increased by 0.5 per cent.
The remaining EU countries recorded monthly decreases in petrol prices, with the largest in Sweden at 7.8 per cent, Belgium at 7.0 per cent and Poland at 6.6 per cent.
In the EU, the price of fuels and lubricants for personal transport increased by 13.7 per cent in June compared with June 2025, according to Eurostat.
This followed higher annual increases of 20.8 per cent in April 2026 and 20.7 per cent in May 2026, compared with the corresponding months of 2025.
