In his message, the President congratulated ICPAC on its 65 years of service and recognised the important role the profession plays in supporting the economy, enhancing transparency and strengthening confidence in the country's business environment.

He also praised the Institute's contribution to promoting key reforms and maintaining Cyprus' international credibility as a modern and competitive business centre.

In his first address as ICPAC's General Manager, Andreas Papadatos spoke about the profound changes taking place globally, noting that technological progress, artificial intelligence, new regulatory requirements and geopolitical developments are creating a new environment for the profession.

"The future of the profession will not be determined solely by technology. It will be determined by whether we continue to be the most trusted adviser to businesses and the state in an environment of increasing complexity," he said.

Papadatos stressed that today's professionals are increasingly expected to act as strategic advisers, providing guidance and trusted solutions in an environment of constant change. "The new era demands organisations that are more agile, more digital and more outward-looking. It demands organisations that do not merely follow developments but help shape them," he noted.

ICPAC President Odysseas Christodoulou, meanwhile, reflected on the Institute's longstanding journey and its contribution to the country's most significant economic and institutional developments over the past 65 years.

He noted that ICPAC has evolved into one of Cyprus' most respected professional organisations, playing a meaningful role in matters of economic policy, taxation, corporate governance and financial reporting.

"The completion of sixty-five years since ICPAC's establishment marks an important milestone for both the Institute and our profession. It provides an opportunity to pay tribute to all those who have served the Institute over the years and to reflect on our responsibilities towards future generations of professionals," Christodoulou said.

He also underlined the importance of continuing reforms, strengthening the competitiveness of the Cypriot economy and adapting to the new realities shaped by technology and the international economic environment.

Honouring Kyriakos Iordanou

One of the most moving moments of the event was the presentation of a special honour to former ICPAC General Manager and current Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Kyriacos Iordanou.
