The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) has published a Policy Statement concerning the Directive on the Register of Beneficial Owners of Express Trusts and Similar Legal Arrangements is being implemented.

The amended CySEC Directive aligns with Law 188(I)/2007 for the purpose of harmonising national law with Article 74 of Directive (EU) 2024/1640. Specifically, the general public access to beneficial ownership information is revoked. Access will only be granted to individuals or organizations able to demonstrate a legitimate interest, in line with a relevant ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
