‘The Christmas Carols’ nominated for six Iris Awards 2026

The film ‘The Christmas Carols’ is celebrating a major milestone, earning 6 nominations at the Iris Awards 2026 of the Hellenic Film Academy.

The nominations span cinematography, sound, set design, costumes, makeup, and visual effects, reflecting both the film's popularity with audiences and the exceptional quality of its production. It is a proud moment for a creative team that set out to make a Greek film of the highest standard and delivered something truly special.

The project was led by Executive Producer Tasos Papanastasiou of Main Character Entertainment and Producer Marinos Charalambous of Avaton Films. Directed by Christos Kanakis, the film features a screenplay by Loris Loizides, who also takes on the lead role.

Together, they gave Charles Dickens' beloved classic a fresh, distinctly Greek identity that feels both modern and deeply human.

Kanakis brought a strong visual style to the film, full of atmosphere and emotional warmth, while Loizidis crafted a script that moves effortlessly between drama, humour, and heart, populating it with characters that feel real and recognisable. The 6 nominations are a well-deserved acknowledgement of everyone who worked so hard to make this film a reality.
