More than 30 major companies and investors at Invest Cyprus roundtable in India

Strong interest from Indian investors is being generated by the Invest Cyprus roundtable, which will take place on Thursday  in Mumbai, as part of the official visit of the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, who will be accompanied by a large business delegation.

During the event, which will be attended by President Christodoulides, government ministers accompanying him, and Invest Cyprus Chairman Evgenios Evgeniou, Indian investors will have the opportunity, to learn about the opportunities Cyprus offers as an investment destination.

At the same time, a number of companies are expected to make specific announcements regarding the expansion of their activities in Cyprus, further highlighting and strengthening the country’s role as a gateway for Indian investments into Europe and the Middle East region.

Speaking to InBusinessNews, Invest Cyprus Chairman Eugenios Evgeniou said that the roundtable is being held under the auspices of the President of the Republic, who will also lead the business delegation.

In addition to himself and the President, he added, the President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), Stavros Stavrou, will also participate in the event.

According to Evgeniou, more than 30 major and prominent Indian companies from various sectors of the economy—including technology, dairy products, logistics, pharmaceuticals and others—have already expressed interest and confirmed their participation.

The programme

Regarding the programme of the event, Mr Evgeniou said that brief addresses will be delivered by himself and the President of the Republic, followed by an open discussion with the business representatives, during which they will be able to ask questions and receive answers from both President Christodoulides and the ministers accompanying him.

“It is also expected that during the discussion, some of the businesspeople participating -whom Invest Cyprus is already in contact with and who have recently visited Cyprus- will make important announcements regarding the expansion of their activities in our country,” he added.

Event significance

Asked about the importance of the event, the Invest Cyprus Chairman described it as an extremely significant initiative, “because it gives a selected and targeted group of entrepreneurs -the invitees were carefully chosen and specifically targeted- the opportunity to hear directly from the President of the Republic, Invest Cyprus and the ministers about the importance of Cyprus as an investment destination, while also receiving answers to any questions or concerns they may have.”

At the same time, he added, participants “will also have the opportunity to hear from representatives of Indian companies that have already established a presence in Cyprus very recently and following the Indian Prime Minister’s visit to the country, sharing their experiences.”

It is noted that shipping executives from India who have been based in Cyprus for years will also attend the event and share their experiences regarding life in the country.

“It is, once again, extremely important for them to have this opportunity and to hear directly from the President of the Republic and from other Indian entrepreneurs and investors already operating in Cyprus, because this immediately places our country on their agenda as the gateway through which they can access the European Union market, while also serving as a base for their companies’ regional expansion into the Middle East,” Evgeniou concluded.
