Issues relating to strengthening cybersecurity and enhancing the European Union’s preparedness against new and advanced artificial intelligence models will be at the center of discussions involving Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna in Strasbourg for the plenary session of the European Parliament.
Raouna will represent the Council of the European Union in the framework of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU during the plenary session taking place until 21 May.
According to an official announcement, the Deputy Minister will represent the Council of the EU in discussions concerning, among other issues, the need to strengthen cybersecurity and the EU’s readiness in the face of new forms of artificial intelligence, as well as the topic “EU Governance under Pressure – Institutional Responses to Global Challenges.”
She will also attend the inaugural ceremony for the awarding of the European Order of Merit distinction.
During her stay in Strasbourg, Raouna is also expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with European officials and political figures, including European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection Michael McGrath, EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, President of the Renew Europe Group Valérie Hayer, and President of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament Iratxe García Pérez.
