First social enterprise for inclusion of people with disabilities inaugurated in Cyprus

The Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Clea Hadjistephanou Papaellina officially inaugurated on Thursday the True Heart Café, in Nicosia, the first social enterprise in Cyprus focused on the inclusion of persons with disabilities, describing it as a “historic moment for Cypriot society as a whole.”

At the ceremony, which was held under the auspices of the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, attendees included, among others, Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou, Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Marinos Moushouttas, Mayor of Nicosia Charalambos Prountzos, as well as senior members of the business community.

In her address at the inauguration, the Deputy Minister said that “this is an important milestone on the path toward a fairer, more humane, and more inclusive society.”

“Today, fifteen people with autism, supported by two dedicated job coaches, are opening a new chapter in life, both for themselves and their families, as well as for our society as a whole,” she added.

She noted that True Heart Café is not simply a dining venue, but a place of “dignity, creativity, and equal participation.”
