CITEA is strengthening efforts for the international exposure of Cypriot technology companies with targeted moves towards China

The Cyprus Information Technology Enterprises Association (CITEA) is continuing its strategy to strengthen the extroversion of its members, with the new Board of Directors giving clear priority to creating real opportunities for growth in international markets.

In this context, the President of CITEA, George Malekkos, Vice President Antonia Michael and Director Matina Zisiadou recently welcomed representatives of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Cyprus, an announcement from the Association has noted.

During the meeting, the prospects for boosting the exports of Cypriot technology companies were discussed, as well as ways to facilitate their access to the Chinese market.

Particular mention was made of the China International Import Expo, an exhibition exclusively focused on imports into China, which was considered particularly interesting as a platform for the penetration of Cypriot companies.

According to a statement from the Association, CITEA believes in the potential of Cypriot businesses to expand abroad and actively invests in strategic partnerships that can create meaningful opportunities for its members.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to:

  • strengthen the international presence of members
  • create new trade bridges
  • exploit markets with high growth potential

CITEA President George Malekkos commented, "Until now, we have known China mainly as an export country. In reality, however, it is a huge market that values professionalism and innovation. This opens up significant prospects for Cypriot technology companies, which can compete and offer specialised solutions.

Our goal is not just to participate in exhibitions or make acquaintances, but to create meaningful partnerships that will lead to real results for our members. We believe that there is a place for Cypriot know-how and we want to claim it in an organised and strategic manner.

If we move right, China can evolve from a 'distant market' into a strategic opportunity for our industry.”

CITEA will continue with targeted actions and international contacts, aiming to transform such initiatives into real business partnerships for its members, the Association concluded.
