The Guardian includes three ALAMBRA Dairy Products cheeses on its list of the UK's 'Best supermarket Halloumi'

Three Halloumi cheeses produced by ALAMBRA Dairy Products occupied the top three positions on British newspaper The Guardian's list of the best Halloumi cheeses in the United Kingdom.

As part of the evaluation, popular Halloumi from major UK supermarket chains were rated, based on the criteria of texture, taste, aroma, baking behavior and "squeak", the characteristic sound made when biting into the popular cheese when it is uncooked.

More specefically, the top three brands on the list were Waitrose No 1 Halloumi with mint, which took the distinction of being best overall, Milbona Cypriot Halloumi, which was listed as the best bargain, and Odysea sheep & goat’s milk Halloumi, topping the 'and the rest' list.

Waitrose No 1 Halloumi with mint was described as, "A large, hand-folded block made with sheep and goat’s milk. No leaching and an even, golden-brown colour. A lovely, soft, silky texture, mild squeak and satisfying flavour."

Milbona Cypriot Halloumi, meanwhile, was described as, "A perfect cow, sheep and goat’s milk block that releases little water and caramelises well, producing a smooth, firm, silky and squeaky grilled cheese with a satisfying mild yet still complex flavour."

And, Odysea sheep & goat’s milk Halloumi was described as, "Handmade with sheep’s and goat’s milk. Fries beautifully without leaking, and caramelises quickly. Firmer than most, and with a wonderfully silky texture. Very squeaky, with a mild, sweet flavour and a clean, lactic tang."

With a leading presence in more than 45 countries worldwide and with high quality assurance standards and international certifications (BRC, IFS, FSSC 22000, HALAL, FDA), ALAMBRA is the supplier of large chains and distributors in the UK such as Waitrose, Lidl (Milbona), Odysea and Marks & Spencer.
