Deloitte Cyprus is entering a new era from 1 June, 2026, when the new Deloitte EMEA structure comes into effect, something which constitutes an important strategic step that strengthens the organisation's position in more than 80 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Under the new structure, which was officially announced at the end of February, Deloitte Cyprus will maintain its autonomy, while strengthening its ability to respond to the unique needs of the Cypriot market. At the same time, it will bring about some differentiation in administrative and operational matters , aiming at efficiency and the adoption of best practices, without however affecting decision-making at the local level.
"The opportunities created are multiple. Our clients expect access to cutting-edge technology, with seamless cross-border and technology-supported service delivery, with immediate response. Deloitte EMEA will strengthen our ability to provide the best services to the world's leading companies," Deloitte Cyprus CEO Pieris Markou said in an interview with InBusinessNews, noting at the same time, that "for our people in Cyprus, the impacts are particularly positive, as new horizons for professional growth and development are opened up."
"Overall, the creation of Deloitte EMEA strengthens the position of Deloitte Cyprus, offering new opportunities for growth, innovation and empowerment for both our clients and our human resources. Deloitte Cyprus will continue to be a dynamic and competitive organisation, capable of responding to market challenges and offering high-quality services to its clients, both locally and internationally," is the message sent by Pieris Markou on the new era the organisation is entering.
How does the creation of Deloitte EMEA impact Deloitte's operations and strategy?
The creation of Deloitte EMEA is a significant strategic step that strengthens Deloitte’s position in the wider region – a region that generates 30% of global GDP and is home to a large number of multinational companies. The new structure, effective from 1 June, 2026, offers a unique opportunity, guided by a shared vision of Deloitte’s member firms: to transform the way they work together to serve clients more effectively across EMEA, creating greater value for their people, clients and the societies in which they operate.
Deloitte EMEA brings together Deloitte member firms operating in more than 80 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with 6,000 partners and 132,000 professionals, and revenues in excess of €20 billion. With the new structure, Deloitte EMEA brings together unique skills and expertise, enabling seamless cross-border collaboration to solve clients’ biggest problems.
Will there be changes to the administrative structure or decision-making at the local level? Will Deloitte Cyprus maintain its autonomy in the new structure?
Importantly, under the new structure, each Deloitte EMEA member firm remains responsible for the services it provides in its local market. The new structure aims to enhance collaboration and synergies, and through it, Deloitte Cyprus will maintain its autonomy, while strengthening its ability to respond to the unique needs of the Cypriot market. It will bring about some differentiation in administrative and operational matters, aiming at efficiency and the adoption of best practices, without however affecting decision-making at the local level.
For Deloitte Cyprus, this translates into enhanced access to a broader range of services, expertise and resources through the opportunities provided by collaboration with the rest of Deloitte's firms in EMEA, in addition to the countries from Northern and Southern Europe and the Middle East with which we already have excellent cooperation. The opportunities for synergies at the EMEA level will allow us to offer even more comprehensive and innovative solutions to our clients, both in Cyprus and abroad.
What new opportunities are being created through this unification? Is increased investment expected in Cyprus?
The opportunities created are manifold. Our clients expect access to cutting-edge technology, with seamless cross-border and technology-enabled service delivery, with immediate response. Deloitte EMEA will strengthen our ability to provide the best services to the world's leading companies.
The new structure provides, among other things:
- Enhanced access to a broader network of talent, expertise and technology solutions from across the EMEA region.
- Ability to provide expanded services to our customers.
- Flexibility and specialisation to more fully cover more complex cross-border needs.
- Faster adoption of innovative approaches and solutions developed at the EMEA regional level.
At the same time, Deloitte EMEA will drive joint initiatives through regional investments in innovation, technology platforms and talent development. Over the coming years, Deloitte EMEA will allocate over €1.5 billion in additional investments in technologies such as GenAI and sovereign cloud and innovations designed to support clients in rapidly changing markets.
As for Deloitte Cyprus, it is expected to benefit greatly from these innovative solutions, which will be to the benefit of our clients and people.
Will we see more cross-border projects or collaborations through Deloitte EMEA?
Closer alignment will allow us to upgrade our capabilities, effectively share expertise and deliver even greater value to our customers, our people and the markets we serve.
We clearly expect an increase in cross-border projects, as facilitating and strengthening such collaborations is a key objective of Deloitte EMEA. The new structure will strengthen collaboration between Deloitte member firms in the region, allowing us to more effectively serve multinational clients and undertake projects that require combined expertise from different countries.
This will provide significant added value to our clients and at the same time expand the opportunities for knowledge and personal development of our professionals.
What will the implications be for human resources in Cyprus? Are there prospects for new positions or relocations within the EMEA region?
For our people in Cyprus, the impact is particularly positive, as new horizons for professional growth and development are being opened up. Our people will have easier access to the training and development programs offered by Deloitte University EMEA in Paris, programs that many of our executives already utilise. Access to a wider range of training programmes, tools and methodologies will enhance the skills and expertise of our people, promoting personal and professional growth.
Furthermore, as I mentioned earlier, the new structure creates expanded career opportunities with more opportunities to work on cross-border projects, collaborate and exchange knowledge with colleagues from other countries and gain international experience. It also provides increased prospects for travel or secondments to projects within EMEA, offering the opportunity for our people to broaden their horizons and develop new skills.
Overall, the creation of Deloitte EMEA strengthens the position of Deloitte Cyprus, offering new opportunities for growth, innovation and empowerment for both our clients and our people. Deloitte Cyprus will continue to be a dynamic and competitive organisation, capable of responding to market challenges and offering high-quality services to its clients, both locally and internationally.
