The Founding General Assembly of the Association of Greek Professionals of Cyprus (SELEK) has been held in Nicosia, marking the establishment of a new, independent and non-profit professional body with a pan-Cypriot scope and a clear institutional orientation.
As noted in a relevent press release, the establishment of SELEK reflects the maturation and dynamics of the Greek business and scientific presence in Cyprus, which in recent years has been developing in a multidisciplinary and extroverted manner, creating the need for organised representation, strategic coordination and stable institutional interconnection.
Of particular importance to the project is the fact that SELEK operates under the auspices and in institutional consultation with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), strengthening its credibility, institutional weight and synergy with the official bodies of the Republic of Cyprus, the announcement noted.
Clear institutional framework and management principles
"SELEK operates under a Statute that clearly defines the structures and procedures of administration, with the General Assembly as the supreme body and the Board of Directors as the executive body. Its institutional architecture ensures transparency, accountability and collective responsibility, cultivating a culture of good administration and organizational consistency," the announcement said.
Immediately after the conclusion of the Founding General Assembly, the first meeting of the newly elected Board of Directors was held, during which the body was fully operational, determining its administrative structure and the responsibilities of the members.
The composition of the Board of Directors is as follows:
- President: Costas Daltas
- Vice President: Konstantinos Kosmas
- Secretary: Angelos Chontoulidis
- Treasurer: Filippos Markou
- Members: Dimitrios Kakounis, Gregoris Kamperis, George Bitoulas
