Eleni Neocleous, Chief Compliance Officer of the Bank of Cyprus, said on Monday that strong governance is not only about internal effectiveness, it is about shaping a stronger ecosystem. She was speaking at the launch of the Cyprus Institute of Directors & Corporate Governance.
She said that when governance is respected and understood by the entire ecosystem, governance and trust create a more transparent society. Neocleous added that she hopes that the institute will be able to help create better leadership, and inspire boards to be more transparent, especially in times that are uncertain.
According to Neocleous, governance must act as a stabiliser, especially in times of geopolitical turbulence.
She wished the institute success in growing directors, who are more transparent.
