CFA Society Cyprus is guided by a clear vision: to advance the investment profession in Cyprus and empower its members to achieve their career objectives.
This vision is brought to life through the dedication and collaboration of our Board of Directors, staff and volunteers, whose commitment is essential in meeting these objectives. Our strategic plan for 2026 is to drive initiatives that promote professional development, ethical standards, community engagement and thought leadership across the financial sector.
Shaping the future of the financial industry and profession
As we navigate a period of significant transformation in the financial industry, driven by artificial intelligence, digitalization, evolving regulation and rising expectations around ethics and sustainability, we aim to play a strategic role within the Cypriot financial ecosystem by strengthening our partnerships with other professional associations, regulators, academic institutions and industry stakeholders. In this direction, we have signed meaningful Memoranda of Understanding with some of these organizations, establishing a strong framework for long-term cooperation and joint initiatives. Through our Advocacy Committee, we share the expertise of our members through our participation in consultation papers and public discussions and promote ethical and professional standards to help shape the financial profession in a healthy and sustainable manner.
Supporting the Continuous Professional Development of Our Members
We place the continuous professional development of our members at the core of our mission. In response to the evolving demands of the investment profession, we have launched the “Strategic Investment Insights” webinar series, a new initiative focused on macroeconomic trends, financial markets, global market developments, investment strategies, risk management approaches and emerging opportunities in areas such as equities, fixed income, alternative investments and sustainable finance. Complementing this, we organize joint webinars and seminars, often in collaboration with professional associations and experts, that address compliance and regulatory topics, helping our members stay up-to-date with evolving requirements. Additionally, we partnered with a local training institution to offer targeted self-paced online courses for our members who are registered with the Advanced Examination and AML CySEC Registries, providing practical knowledge and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Strengthening Member Community and Engagement
Our goal is to foster a strong, inclusive and connected community among our members by creating meaningful opportunities for engagement, collaboration and knowledge sharing. Through targeted events, professional networking initiatives and volunteer involvement across the five committees of our society, we aim to enhance member participation and reinforce a shared sense of belonging. We also remain open to new ways of reaching a wider audience within the Society, such as our participation in the Nicosia Marathon in December, an activity that was particularly well received by our younger and more athletic members.
Supporting Candidates Learning and Professional Growth
We support CFA candidates throughout their learning and examination journey by providing access to relevant resources, guidance and supportive peer community. To this end, we have established collaborations with CFA Institute- approved prep providers that offer discounted programs to our candidates. In addition, we have recently launched a mentorship program that connects candidates with our Society members in one-to-one mentoring relationships, with the goal of supporting CFA candidates through career guidance and professional growth.
Promoting Financial Education Through Academic Collaboration
This year, we are organizing the 13th edition of the local CFA Institute Research Challenge, hosted by our Research Challenge and University Relations Committee, to give students hands-on experience in financial analysis, equity research and professional reporting, while reinforcing ethical and professional standards. Beyond the Research Challenge, we participate in career fairs and deliver presentations at universities, highlighting the CFA Program and the associated career opportunities it offers. We also collaborate with universities and academic institutions to support curriculum development, assist with accreditation efforts by sharing our experience as stakeholders and deliver guest lectures, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice while nurturing the next generation of investment professionals.
Enhancing Financial Literacy in Cyprus
Our society is represented by our Financial Literacy committee on the Cyprus Financial Literacy and Education Committee (CyFLEC) a national body established in June 2024 to implement the National Financial Literacy and Education Strategy in Cyprus. In addition, volunteers from our Society continue to visit schools to introduce students to basic financial literacy concepts. Our recent efforts aim to reach a wider range of age groups. A key initiative is a podcast series hosted by Board members of our Society, featuring prominent guests and covering topics such as client protection, workplace inclusion, the banking sector in Cyprus, investment funds, the Cyprus Stock Exchange and pensions.
Fostering Inclusive Practices in the Financial Sector
We are committed to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) across the finance profession. In 2026, our DEI Committee will focus on practical, measurable actions: (i) supporting member firms that wish to adopt the CFA Institute Inclusion Code for Europe by providing a simple onboarding pack (key steps, templates and good practices); and (ii) continuing, together with the CFA Institute and Diversity Charter Cyprus (MoU), a targeted series of initiatives on inclusive behaviors and leadership practices that improve culture and outcomes for all stakeholders. We work closely with the CFA Institute to organize webinars that demonstrate how inclusive behaviors can benefit all stakeholder groups within an organization. Finally, we plan to track and report progress through a set of Key Performance Indicators (e.g., percentage of women being hired, promoted) to ensure sustained impact.
Sharing Market Perspectives
Our Public Relations Committee plays a key role in promoting the expertise of our members and the Society’s thought leadership. Through collaboration with media outlets, the Committee provides analysis of economic developments and market trends via articles, interviews and TV appearances. These efforts, supported by the wider Society, ensure that the insights and experience of our members reach the public, contributing to informed financial decision-making and strengthening the presence of CFA professionals in Cyprus.
Conclusion
As we are already moving through the first months of 2026, the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers of CFA Society Cyprus will continue to work collaboratively to deliver on the Society’s strategic objectives. Through strong governance and active committee engagement, our goal is to drive initiatives that support members, uphold ethical and professional standards and strengthen our Society’s impact within the financial ecosystem.
