Larnaka Airport: A place of learning and creation for the new generation

Hermes Airports opened the doors of Larnaca Airport again this year to primary school students from the province and surrounding areas, transforming a part of the departures terminal into a colorful and musical space of knowledge, sports, joy and creativity.

From 4 to 18 December, 2025 primary school students visited Larnaca Airport and, in a Christmas atmosphere, participated in a special experience full of play, imagination and learning.

Through educational orientation games, interactive First Aid seminars, sports activities, painting workshops and organized tours, students had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the operation of the airport, develop useful skills and create beautiful memories, on a different school day.

Larnaca's youth in the spotlight for climate resilience

At the same time, Larnaka Airport also hosted another action with a different, educational footprint, this time for high school students. Hermes Airports, in collaboration with the Bank of Cyprus/Support CY, the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth and the University of Cyprus' KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence, organised an original action, within the framework of the “Young People Ask and Provide Solutions” institution, focusing on the prevention and response to environmental challenges.

Sixty senior high school students from Larnaca participated in an experiential workshop simulating extreme weather phenomena, specifically floods, in their province, with the aim of strengthening climate resilience and cultivating personal responsibility for environmental protection.

Through teamwork, the students discussed ways to prevent and respond to flooding phenomena, designed ideas for informing the public and responding to similar crises, developing practical approaches that can be applied both at school and community level. The action concluded with presentations of their proposals, demonstrating that the new generation has the knowledge, imagination and – most importantly – the voice to shape a more resilient world.

Through these actions and collaborations, the airport opens its doors to the new generation, with experiences that combine knowledge with creativity, entertainment and responsibility, enhancing awareness of contemporary social and environmental issues.
