Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou will be visiting Stockholm on 27 November for separate meetings with the Swedish Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Andreas Carlson, as well the Minister and Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Carl-Oskar Bohlin and Johan Berggren.
A press release by the Ministry said that Ioannou will also be visiting Civil Defence facilities.
During his meeting with Carlson, Ioannou will present the actions implemented by Cyprus' government under its integrated housing policy to alleviate the country's housing problem.
In view of the EU Cyprus Presidency which begins 1 January 2026, the Ministers are expected to discuss the European Affordable Housing Plan and to exchange views on promoting further measures to support member states in addressing the problem.
During his meeting with Bohlin and Berggren, the Minister is set to present the restructuring plan for Cyprus' civil protection sector, which aims to increase the competent services' level of preparedness in emergency situations.
The Ministers will also examine ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation on civil protection issues, in particular through the exchange of expertise, so as to strengthen the response and resilience of the two countries in cases of natural and man-made disasters, it is noted.
