Three new school projects have been inaugurated across Cyprus in the presence of mayors, community leaders, representatives of the Ministry of Education, teachers, parents, and many enthusiastic young students.
The schools benefiting from the new projects are Athienou Primary School – Section A, the Famagusta Regional Agricultural, Technical and Vocational School of Education and Training in Avgorou, and Dasaki Achnas Primary School “Fotis Pittas”.

The projects include tennis courts, outdoor play equipment, a calisthenics gym, kiosks, and interactive electronic boards — all funded by the Yianis Christodoulou Foundation (YCF) as part of the nationwide “Love Cyprus” competition.

The students welcomed the Foundation’s founder, John Christodoulou, with heartfelt enthusiasm, preparing a warm reception featuring traditional costumes, theatrical performances, folk songs, poems, the ‘tatsia’ dance and improvised “tsiattista” verses.

A particularly emotional moment came when the students focused on themes of invasion, occupation, and displacement, impressing guests with their creativity and artistic expression, while also conveying their deep emotions and living memory of their occupied homeland, passed down from generation to generation.

Christodoulou expressed his pride and emotion, stating: “I am always happy to see children who know and feel deeply about our occupied homeland, and I commend the teachers who pass on these values and knowledge. We will continue to support children’s education in every possible way, so that they feel their school is a beloved place — one where they can express themselves, learn, exercise, and see it as a joyful part of their lives.”

Christodoulou was accompanied by popular TV presenter Andri Karantoni, a passionate advocate for charitable causes supporting children and vulnerable groups, as well as members of his team. Andri also helped when the Yianis Christodoulou Foundation broke the Guinness World Record for the largest number of people clasping wrists at GSP Stadium in Nicosia.

The “Love Cyprus” competition encouraged students from all over Cyprus to express their love for the island through creative projects — dance videos in traditional costumes, performances, and photographs highlighting the island’s history and beauty. From over 800 entries, eight schools were selected as winners, receiving a total of €180,000 in funding to implement projects that enhance and improve their school environments.

The Yianis Christodoulou Foundation said it remains firmly committed to supporting children in Cyprus — investing in education, creativity, and equal opportunities, so that every school becomes a place of inspiration, knowledge, and joy.
