Imports and exports of goods recorded a significant increase in June and July, compared to the same months last year. There was also a large increase in imports and exports on an annual basis in the first seven months of the year.
The trade deficit was €4,567.4 million for the period January-July 2025, compared to €4,388.1 million in the corresponding period of 2024.
According to data published today by the Statistical Service, based on preliminary data, total imports of goods in July 2025 were €1,263.7 million compared to €1,066.5 million in July 2024, recording an increase of 18.5%. Imports from other European Union (EU) member states were €709.3 million and from third countries €554.4 million, compared to €645.5 million and €421.0 million, respectively, in July 2024. Imports in July 2025 include the transfer of economic ownership of vessels, with a total value of €8.7 million compared to €12.6 million in July 2024.
Total exports of goods in July 2025 were €564.3 million compared to €326.8 million in July 2024, marking an increase of 72.7%. Exports to other EU Member States amounted to €170.7 million and to third countries to €393.6 million, compared to €102.0 million and €224.8 million respectively in July 2024. Exports in July 2025 include the transfer of economic ownership of vessels, with a total value of €89.9 million compared to €20.4 million in July 2024.
Total imports of goods for the period January-July 2025 were €7,760.9 million, compared to €6,712.4 million for the period January-July 2024, marking an increase of 15.6%. Total exports of goods for the period January-July 2025 were €3,193.5 million compared to €2,324.3 million for the period January-July 2024, marking an increase of 37.4%. The trade deficit was €4,567.4 million for the period January-July 2025, compared to €4,388.1 million in the corresponding period of 2024.
Based on final June data, total imports of goods were €1,122.8 million in June 2025 compared to €920.3 million in June 2024, marking an increase of 22.0%.
Exports of domestically produced products, including stores and provisions for ships and aircraft, for June 2025 were €347.0 million compared to €190.1 million in June 2024, recording an increase of 82.5%.
The value of domestic exports of industrial products, excluding ship and aircraft stores and provisions, for June 2025 amounted to €336.2 million compared to €178.2 million in June 2024. The value of domestic exports of agricultural products, excluding ship and aircraft stores and provisions, for June 2025 amounted to €9.7 million compared to €10.7 million in June 2024.
Exports of foreign products, including stores and provisions to ships and aircraft, for June 2025 were €164.5 million compared to €262.4 million in June 2024, marking a decrease of 37.3%.
