Minister of Education Athena Michaelidou has announced that this year, for the first time, a new form of secondary education, the Technical High School, will be operating on a pilot basis.
It should be noted that Technical High Schools have been operating for some time within the public high school system but a new format is being tested from this year.
"The Technical High School is being implemented for the first time in our educational system this year, on a pilot basis. We are moving forward in practice, with the strengthening of Technical and Vocational Education in our country", she wrote on a post on 'X'.
She noted that pupils will be given opportunities to get acquainted with technical professions.
The purpose of the Technical High School, she added, is to provide timely familiarisation of students with technical professions and new technologies.
"Students will have the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge and develop life and training skills that will be useful to them in the future, regardless of their subsequent academic or professional choices," Michaelidou pointed out.
