As part of its continued commitment to providing meaningful, hands-on experience for local students, DP World Limassol offered a three-month internship programme for undergraduates studying maritime or related fields.
The company welcomed three undergraduate students from the Cyprus University of Technology and Frederick University who worked side-by-side with DP World Limassol, contributing to various projects – through which they were exposed to real operational processes and enhanced their technical and interpersonal skills.
Held for the fifth year in a row, the internship programme supports the local education sector by helping bridge the gap between academia and industry. Around 30 students have completed the programme since 2020, with 10 offered employment across various departments at DP World Limassol.
In statements, DP World Limassol CEO Simon Pitout said: “We are proud to once again offer students the opportunity to explore a real-world business environment and develop skills that will support their future careers. At DP World Limassol, we want to have an active role in the community, by contributing to the development of a sustainable talent pipeline for the local maritime industry”.
“By interning with our company, the students got the opportunity to work at Cyprus’ biggest and busiest port, alongside experienced professionals. In turn, they made a valuable contribution to our team, by bringing in fresh ideas and perspectives to their roles. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how eager and capable these young minds are, and we are proud to play a role in shaping the next generation of talent”.
The application process for the internship programme begins in April, with results announced in mid-May. Priority is given to undergraduate students from universities that collaborate with DP World Limassol, but other applicants are welcome to apply by sending their CV and a cover letter to careers@dpworldlimassol.com
