Petrolina supports firefighting efforts with free fuel

Petrolina has been providing free fuel to all aerial and ground firefighting units involved in the operations to bring raging wildfires in the mountain regions of Limassol.

The company said it has remained in constant and direct communication with the relevant authorities to respond swiftly to emerging needs and support the demanding mission of fire suppression.

Speaking to InBusinessNews, Dinos Lefkaritis, CEO of Petrolina Group, emphasised that just as during the devastating wildfire in Evrychou in 2016, Petrolina once again responded immediately, offering free fuel for both firefighting vehicles and aircraft.

“We contacted the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, the Chief of the Fire Service, and the central coordination unit, assuring them of our full availability to assist and support the overall effort in any way we can,” Lefkaritis stated.

He was clear in noting that the company’s initiative is not about publicity. Instead, he expressed the hope that other companies will follow suit, providing tangible support to the emergency responders, affected communities, authorities, and volunteers.

Petrolina is also backing volunteer-led efforts, such as the KitasWeather firefighting team and the SupportCY network, acknowledging their important contributions in tackling wildfires.

The company’s role is considered vital, as it directly reinforces firefighting operations and the people working tirelessly to bring the crisis under control.
