Two Greek F-16s intercepted a drone from Lebanon before it entered Cyprus airspace, flight returns to Athens

Two Greek F- 16s took off from the Andreas Papandreou Air Base in Paphos in connection with the suspicious object detected in the airspace near Lebanon.

As competent sources reported to CNA, in the context of increased preparedness, two F- 16s took off from Paphos for the purposes of identifying and dealing with the suspicious object.

As reported, after completing their mission, the two fighter jets returned to their base.

Earlier, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis reported that a possible suspicious object was detected in the airspace near Lebanon. For precautionary reasons, all appropriate measures were taken by the competent authorities for the investigation, he added.

 

 

 

According to Hermes, Airports, Cyprus' airspace remains open, while the situation is constantly being reviewed. One flight returned to Athens due to the event while another landed in Cyprus as planned.
