On Thursday, July 10, 2025, the 5G-MILNET project – a portable, private, high-performance, secure, robust, resilient, and rapidly deployable ad-hoc tactical 5G and beyond communications system for military operations – held its first Kick-Off Meeting in Athens, Greece.
Dr Christofi Loizos (R&D Director) and Dr Dimitrios Zouzias (R&D Project Manager) attended the meeting representing eBOS. The meeting was chaired by Nicolas Blasakis from ADAMANT (Greece), the project’s Coordinator, and brought together representatives from all five consortium partners:
PLEIONE ENERGY (Germany), eBOS (Cyprus), ECLIPTIC (Cyprus), IQUADRAT (Spain), ATHENA (Greece), EURECOM (France).

The agenda featured presentations of the project’s overall vision, detailed work package overviews and their plans of action, the Work Package Structure, the Project’s Quality Assurance, Risks Innovation and IPR Management Plan, followed by discussions on the upcoming project steps.
5G-MILNET’s overall objective is to establish an on-demand, reliable, and cost-effective next-generation communications network for European military forces on the battlefield, utilising rapidly deployable 5G nodes strategically placed and operated autonomously without the need for fixed infrastructure.

eBOS is leading the design definition of the 5G-MILNET’s architectural components and specifications task, ensuring they meet military operational needs while overseeing the development of an AI-empowered Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) to protect the interconnected devices from cybersecurity threats. Additionally, eBOS will coordinate the interoperability testing of system components to ensure compatibility and seamless collaboration between them.
