Harmonised inflation up 0.5% y-o-y in June - 1.6% in first half of 2025

Cyprus' Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose by 0.5% year-on-year in June 2025, according to data released by Cystat. On a monthly basis, the index increased by 0.4% compared with May.

The largest annual price increases compared to June 2024 were recorded in Recreation and Culture (7.5%) and Restaurants and Hotels (5.5%), while Clothing and Footwear saw a notable decline of 5.0%.

Compared with the previous month, June’s biggest increases were observed in Restaurants and Hotels (2.3%) and Transport (1.8%), while Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages dropped by 1.8%.

Over the first half of 2025, the HICP recorded an overall increase of 1.6% compared with the same period of 2024. The largest year-on-year increases during January–June were again seen in Recreation and Culture (7.4%) and Restaurants and Hotels (+5.3%), while Clothing and Footwear registered a decline of 5.4%.

In terms of economic categories, Energy posted the largest annual decrease (-9.6%), whereas compared with May, the biggest monthly increase was recorded in Services (1.6%).
