Number of building permits drops in Q1, volume and value up

The number of building permits in Cyprus recorded in the first quarter of the year recorded a decrease of almost 16%. 

According to Cystat, during the period January – March 2025, 1,580 building permits were issued compared to 1,876 in the corresponding period of the previous year, recording a decrease of 15.8%.

The total value of these permits increased by 21.7% and the total area by 15.6%. The number of dwelling units recorded an increase of 16.7%.

Meanwhile, the number of building permits authorised during March 2025 stood at 572 compared to 583 in March 2024, registering a decrease of 1.9%.

The total value of these permits reached €361.5 million and the total area 296.9 thousand square metres. These building permits provide for the construction of 1,480 dwelling units.
