United States Naval Academy delegation visits University of Cyprus

A visit by a delegation from the United States Naval Academy of the United States of America took place at the University of Cyprus, as part of an educational mission and with the aim of developing cooperation with the University of Cyprus and in particular with the School of Economics and Management.

The University of Cyprus says in a press release that the delegation of the United States Naval Academy consisted of Associate Professor Nikolaos Siougiannis, Professor Alexander McQuoid, and seven student cadets.

The meeting that followed was attended by the Rector of the University of Cyprus, Professor Tasos Christofides, the Associate Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Professor George Hadjinicolas, the Chairman of the Department of Economics, Professor Andros Kourtellos, the Assistant Professor of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Stylianos Papageorgiou, and staff of the International Relations Service.

It is noted that during the meeting, a presentation of the School of Economics and Management was made by the Associate Dean of the School, Professor George Hadjinicolas, and a presentation of the United States Naval Academy, by Associate Professor Nikolaos Siougiannis.

During the discussion that followed, the Rector of the University of Cyprus, Professor Tasos Christofides, said that this visit marks the beginning of cooperation between the two institutions that share common values, academic excellence and contribution to society through the signing of a general memorandum of cooperation, which provides, among other things, for student exchanges.

The delegation was given a tour of the University Campus and the Information Centre – “Stelios Ioannou” Library.

The visit took place on Monday, 2 June.
