Official premiere of e-kalathi set for next week

The procedures related to the presentation of the 'e-kalathi' digital platform for monitoring and recording prices of basic consumer goods, which is set to be launched next week, have been completed.

According to InBusinessNews sources, the platform will be launched on web and mobile applications next Thursday, 12 June.

The project implementation contractor is expected to inform the involved associations with a revised technical manual, in order for them to take the final necessary actions before the start of the electronic platform's operation.

Final presentation on Wednesday-Launch on Thursday

In the context of the official launch of the 'e-kalathi', the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry invited the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Indiustry (CCCI), the Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB), the Cyprus Supermarket Association, the Pancyprian Retail Trade Association (PASYLE), the Association of Mass Consumption Goods Suppliers, the Cyprus Consumers Association and the Cyprus Consumers Union and Quality of Life, to a final presentation of the platform next Wednesday, 11 June, 2025, that is, just one day before the official launch of the platform for the consumer public.

It is noted that the testing mode on the web level (not mobile) was given to the involved associations in February, who in turn, identified weaknesses and submitted comments and suggestions, which were corrected.

However, since then, there has been no other use or feedback of the platform, which will be presented to supermarkets and other involved associations just 24 hours before its official launch.

The last pending issue that was resolved was securing approval from Apple to make the application available for devices using the iOS operating system.

The application, which will post the prices of 478 products from 42 different categories, is contracted by 22 supermarket chains, with a total of 165 stores, whose prices will only be updated whenever there is a change.
