Larnaka Airport ranked among Europe’s best according to ACI Europe

Larnaka Airport, which is managed and operated by Hermes Airports was 'Highly Commended' in the 'Best Airports in Europe' Awards (5 to 10 million passengers category) during the 35th Annual Congress and General Assembly of ACI Europe (Airports Council International Europe), which took place in Athens, on 19 June 2025.
The 'Best Airports in Europe' award (category 5 to 10 million passengers) was presented to Sofia’s Vasil Levski Airport, with Larnaka Airport earning the second place among its European peers, receiving the 'Highly Commended' recognition.
As noted in a relevant press release, "this accolade from the international airport body, ACI Europe, highlights Hermes Airports’ commitment to quality, growth of connectivity, sustainability, and excellent passenger service. Hermes Airports stood out for its holistic growth strategy, which balances environmental stewardship, community value, and operational resilience. At the same time, the company’s initiatives and strategy for improving air connectivity—aligned with Cyprus’ tourism objectives—place a strong emphasis on addressing seasonality."
Upon receiving the 'Highly Commended' distinction from ACI Europe, Hermes Airports’ CEO, Eleni Kaloyirou, stated, “This accolade is a testament to our team’s collective efforts and our commitment to continuous improvement. We remain dedicated to executing our strategy and placing Larnaka Airport firmly on the map of Europe’s leading airports.”
Meanwhile, as a result of the successful strategy to enhance air connectivity across Cyprus’ airports, the latest ACI Europe Air Connectivity Report 2025 published this week, ranks Larnaka and Pafos Airports first, among European airports in terms of the growth rate in direct air connectivity, in terms of number of flights and total destinations served. The increase recorded for 2025 compared to 2024 is an impressive 18%.
Moreover, Cyprus ranks second among European countries in the growth of direct air connectivity in 2025 compared to 2019, with a 22% increase. Finally, based on the same report, Cyprus ranks third among European countries in the growth of total air connectivity (direct and indirect flights) for 2025 compared to 2019, with an 8% increase.
