Cyprus–Uzbekistan Business Association and Ministry of Foreign Affairs agree to strengthen bilateral relations

The level of bilateral relations between Cyprus and Uzbekistan, the economic, business and cultural ties between the two countries, as well as ways in which these can be strengthened, were at the centre of a meeting between the President of the Cyprus–Uzbekistan Business Association, Arofat Salayeva and Constantinos Christofides, Head of the Department for Eastern Europe, Western Balkans and Central Asia.

During the meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasis was also placed on educational issues and other forms of collaboration, ahead of the upcoming visit of a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan to Cyprus on 12–13 June, led by the country’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Salayeva presented the Association’s goals, highlighting the importance of institutional support, communication with public and private sector stakeholders and the organisation of joint initiatives.

In the context of the meeting, Salayeva stated, “I thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus for the opportunity to share our thoughts on how we can work towards strengthening Cyprus–Uzbekistan relations. Our goal is to enhance mutual understanding between the two countries and to support initiatives that bring our peoples closer together.”

Both parties agreed to maintain open channels of communication, with the aim of building even stronger ties between Cyprus and Uzbekistan.

The Cyprus-Uzbekistan Business Association, established under the auspices of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ΚΕΒΕ), aims to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two nations. Acting as a dynamic networking and cooperation platform, the Association promotes collaboration across sectors such as trade, investment and technology.

By highlighting the strategic advantages of Cyprus and the emerging potential of Uzbekistan, the Association is set to foster innovation, attract investment and create sustainable business partnerships that contribute to mutual growth and prosperity.
