French Ambassador - parliamentary committee chair underline excellent level of bilateral ties

Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, Harris Georgiades, and Ambassador of France to Cyprus, Clélia Chevrier-Kolačko, have underlined the excellent level of the Cyprus-France relations.

A press release by the House of Representatives says that during a meeting they held, they noted the upcoming upgrade of the strategic agreement between the two states and highlighted the opportunities for further expansion and strengthening of bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including defence and security. 

In addition, they noted the importance of further strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue and cooperation, at the bilateral and European levels, especially during the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026. 

Furthermore, they exchanged views on issues of regional and international interest and underlined the need for a more active role of the European Union in the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean region, the press release says.
