Phase II at Cyprus' airports: Works progressing rapidly

Work under Phase II at Larnaka and Pafos Airports is proceeding at breakneck speed. On 10 April, in a complex operation that required extensive coordination to ensure the smooth functioning of Larnaka Airport, the consortium of companies responsible for the project carried out the relocation of an elevator tower.

The 14-meter-high tower was moved from the right side of the departures level of the airport to the left side, next to the exit leading to the bus and taxi area, in order to better serve passengers during the construction phase.

As shown in the impressive footage and photos we have obtained, the tower was first transferred from the construction site to the arrivals roadway, where it remained parked for 24 hours. Then, with cranes set up, it was lifted and placed in its designated location.

The striking relocation of the tower was witnessed by many passengers who happened to be at the airport at the time. The placement was carried out as scheduled, using cranes, and during a time of low passenger traffic to minimise disruption.
