A total of 23 bounced cheques worth €22,860 in April, according to the CBC

The number and total value of bounced cheques issued in April 2025 dropped significantly compared to April of last year.

Only 23 bounced cheques were issued, with a total value of just €22,860, according to data released by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), regarding entries of individuals in the preliminary list of the Central Information Registry (CIR) for issuers of bounced cheques.

In March 2025, 11 bounced cheques were recorded, totaling €72,009, while in April 2024, 32 cheques were recorded, with a total value of €137,613.

The total number of persons registered in the preliminary CIR list amounted to 9 (6 legal entities and 3 natural persons).

During the period January – April 2025, according to CBC data, a total of 84 bounced cheques were registered in the preliminary CIR list, with a total value of €179,424, compared to 108 cheques in the same period last year, totaling €252,988.

The bounced cheques in the January – April 2025 period involved a total of 42 persons (25 legal and 17 natural persons).

Furthermore, according to CBC data, the number of persons registered in the CIR in April 2025 reached 14, of which 6 were legal entities, 1 was a natural person, and 7 were natural persons who control legal entities.

During the January – April 2025 period, a total of 38 persons were registered in the CIR, compared to 78 persons during the corresponding period in 2024.
