Cyprus and UAE to enhance cooperation

Emphasis was placed on further strengthening cooperation between Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates during the working visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kombos to Abu Dhabi.

A Ministry of Foreign Affairs press release said that Kombos completed his working visit to the UAE on Tuesday, which took place on 7 and 8 April, 2025, in Abu Dhabi. The visit was part of efforts to intensify contacts with Gulf countries aimed at further enhancing bilateral relations and promoting cooperation at the regional and international level.

During his visit, Kombos met with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The focus of the discussion was on Cyprus-UAE bilateral relations, current regional developments, and international challenges. Particular emphasis was placed on further enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various areas of mutual interest, the press release said.

The Foreign Minister also met with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy. During the meeting, issues related to regional stability, humanitarian efforts, and the strategic partnership between Cyprus and the UAE were discussed, as well as the upcoming Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026.
