GOLD New Issue: Casting an Eye on AI

In the new issue of GOLD, available on newsstands from Saturday, 19 April, we feature nine leading Cyprus-based companies that have adopted cutting-edge AI tools.

At a summit in Paris earlier this year, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai declared that “AI will be the most profound shift of our lifetimes.” It’s a bold, perhaps even grandiose claim, though not without basis: from healthcare to retail, productivity gains are stacking up, costs are being slashed and new job roles are emerging, thanks to AI. There is, unsurprisingly, an ongoing debate about this new wave of AI and its impact on the workplace. Tools are not just automating manual tasks but fundamentally redesigning how work is organised, executed and even measured. LinkedIn data from 2023 shows that the skills required for many global jobs have already changed by 25% since 2015. With AI accelerating these shifts, that number is expected to climb to at least 65% by 2030. AI-related skills have surged in demand. With the world of work in a state of flux, our cover story features nine leading Cyprus-based companies that have had to grapple not only with technical hurdles but also with culture shock in adopting cutting-edge AI tools. Their CTOs, CIOs and IT leads open up about the challenges they've faced, the culture shifts they’ve had to navigate and the genuinely transformative tech that’s reshaping their industries.
