Limassol ready to host European Sambo Championship, Cyprus Sambo Federation says

The city of Limassol, on the southern coast of Cyprus is ready to host over eight hundred athletes and their teams for the European Sambo Championship to be held on 23-27 April, at the Apollon Stadium.

The 2025 European Sambo Championship is part of the Limassol Games organised by the Limassol Municipality. Marios Andreou, President of the Cyprus Sambo Federation, which organises the European Championship said at a press conference that the preparations are in full swing and the city is ready to welcome the delegations of the 27 participating countries with a total of 800 participants.

He added that the President of the European Federation and the Vice President and Secretary General of the World Federation will be present during the games.

Cyprus will participate with 17 athletes and aims to win a medal which will be the first in its history at the men's/women's level, after having won a medal at the youth level.

On 22 April Limassol will also host the European Federation Congress with 25 delegates.

Arrivals ahead of the games have already begun with the 50-member Ukrainian delegation settling into a Limassol hotel on Tuesday for a training camp before the European Championships.

Sambo is a combat sport and martial art with Soviet origins practiced worldwide.
