Rock Island Events brings 'Metal 2 the Masses' Cyprus final to Larnaca

Co-founders Mike Angastiniotis and Melina Green have channeled their love of music and wish to strengthen the local rock and metal scene into a business, Rock Island Events and, among other business activities, have brought ‘Bloodstock Metal 2 the Masses’ to Cyprus for the first time.

The prestigious international contest’s Cyprus finals are taking place in Larnaca tomorrow, Sunday, 13 April at Savino Live in Larnaca.

The winning band will go on to represent Cyprus at the finals during the Bloodstock UK music festival in the UK.

Speaking to CBN, Angastiniotis said that he and Green, who are also married to each other, created Rock Island Events “to showcase and strengthen the local scene with good rock and metal music.” The company, he adds, also aims to promote local bands overseas, including through event’s like ‘Bloodstock Metal 2 the Masses.’

“A judge from the UK will be coming to watch the finals, and they will choose the one winning band,” Angastiniotis continued.

On Rock Island Events other activities, he said that, since being formed in 2023, the company aimed to continue to organise events, “with great sounds and great attendance, offering audiences good value for money and local bands a chance to become better known.”

Angastiniotis continued that the company appreciated the support of the government’s Department of Modern and Contemporary Culture and hoped it would continue noting, “State support of cultural events is very important.”

The two ‘Bloodstock Metal 2 the Masses’ semi-final events carried out at the end of March and earlier this month attracted hundreds of audience members to watch the 17 bands compete.

With tickets priced at €15, the finals are taking place at Savino Live in Larnaca from 6pm on Sunday, 13 April.

Each band will perform for 30 minutes with the five finalists being, listed in alphabetical order:
