Access to the 'Digital Citizen' app extended to include young people over 14

The 'Digital Citizen' application has now been extended to include young people aged 14 and above.

As noted in a relevant announcement from the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, "The digital copies of the official documents of the citizen created through the 'Digital Citizen ' application are fully equivalent to the printed form of the documents. Therefore, the citizen can, during the process of verifying his identity, show the digital document through the 'Digital Citizen' application instead of the corresponding physical one, and this will be accepted without exceptions."

The 'Digital Citizen' app is available for iOS and Android devices , through the Apple and Google stores.

A prerequisite for using the application is the creation and identification of a profile on CY Login . Account creation is done electronically via the website https://cge.cyprus.gov.cy/ , while identification of minors can be done by appointment at a Citizen Service Centre, either in person or via video call ( MyGovLive Service ). It is noted that in both cases (physical or electronic appointment), the minor and one of his/her parents/guardians must be present, with their identity documents.

It is recalled that the digital documents created through the application do not constitute international travel documents.

The creation of digital copies is only permitted if the citizen legally possesses the corresponding original certificate.
