Registered unemployed down by 10.6% in January on annual basis

The number of unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of January 2025, reached 13,147 persons, recording a drop of 10.6% compared to the number of registered unemployed persons in January 2024, according to data published by CySTAT.

The decrease is attributed mainly to the sectors of financial and insurance activities, accommodation and food service activities, professional, scientific and technical activities, construction, as well as to the decrease recorded for newcomers in the labour market.

Based on the seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for January 2025 decreased to 10,447 persons, in comparison to 10,511 in the previous month.
