Sklavenitis set to reopen Engomi supermarket under its own brand

Just a few hours remain before the long-awaited opening of the Sklavenitis supermarket in Engomi, with work progressing intensively, while the final touches are being put in before the grand opening.

Since mid-February, the chain, which acquired Papantoniou Supermarkets, had been preparing consumers for its new acquisition in Engomi, on Vasileos Pavlou Street.

After signing the deal that has changed Cyprus' food retail map, Sklavenitis Cyprus is proceeding with the implementation of its investment plan for the renovation of the nine stores of the Papantoniou chain, which it acquired last November.

It is recalled that the nine Papantoniou stores are expected to be fully integrated and operate under the Sklavenitis brand within a short period of time.

The investment plan is moving forward with the aim of taking top place

Within the year, Sklavenitis Cyprus is expected to officially strengthen its presence in the Cypriot market, through the legal and tax completion of the acquisition of Papantoniou Supermarkets, but also through the operation of the nine Papantoniou Supermarkets stores in line with the standards and practices of Sklavenitis Supermarkets.

The deal, which secured the approval of the Commission for the Protection of Competition last October, is expected to create a chain with an estimated total annual turnover of close to €400 million.

At the same time, the battle for dominance in food retail is set to be intense, as the Alfamega and Lidl chains want to maintain their dominance, while Sklavenitis Cyprus is initially aiming for at least second place and later perhaps for first place in the sector.
