Nicosia Mall: Supporting Society and the Environment

Nicosia Mall, the largest shopping centre in Cyprus in terms of number of stores and total turnover as well as in terms of traffic, is the No.1 destination for young and old alike.

In addition to its commercial activity, in the context of its corporate social responsibility, Nicosia Mall has set a strategic goal to organise and host activities that aim to highlight the work of charitable and non-profit organisations, as well as informing visitors about important social issues.

Supporting Organisations and Organizing Events

Nicosia Mall hosts several events for charitable and non-profit organisations each year, giving them the space and a stage to showcase their work. More specifically, in 2024 more than 45 organisations had a presence in Nicosia Mall, which has also had the pleasure to host important, large-scale events, such as the BOC Spring Fest, organised by Bank of Cyprus with the aim of supporting the Cyprus Cancer Association.

The list of hosted organisations includes, among others, Sophia For Children, One Dream One Wish, the Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends (PASYKAF), the Cyprus Red Cross, Europa Donna Cyprus, the Always Ioanna Skordi Foundation, the Nicholas Zoe Foundation, the Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Heart Disease, the Cyprus Mental Health Protection Association, the Cyprus Multiple Sclerosis Association, AMEA Morphou, the Cyprus Association for People with Autism, and more.

Supporting Those in Real Need

Traditionally, during the Christmas period, Nicosia Mall implements its own signature projects, with the aim of offering joy to young and old, while at the same time supporting our fellow citizens who are really in need. In this context, for four years now, Nicosia Mall has organised a Christmas project: Christmas Teddy bears, where large teddy bears are adopted by stores in the shopping centre as well as by our associates. All the proceeds from this action, which so far amount to €68,000, are donated to the Makarios Hospital, the Arodaphnousa Palliative Care Centre, the Cyprus Red Cross, PASYKAF and the Lakatamia Multipurpose Centre.

Also during the last Christmas period, in collaboration with associates who share the same values, we have organised three more activities: the Gift Wrapping station, the Christmas Old Garage Station and the sale of small Christmas Teddy bears. A total of €7,500 was raised from these events, which was donated to the Alkinos Artemiou Foundation, the Nicholas Zoe Foundation, Unique Smiles, the Always Ioanna Skordi Foundation, the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society and the Cyprus Red Cross.

Nicosia Mall is also a member of the SupportCY Network and has partnered with government and other organisations to participate in their information campaigns on a range of topics related to health, safety, technology, cybersecurity, equality in the workplace, etc. These organisations include the Cyprus Police, the Cyprus Fire Service, Cyprus Civil Defence, the Social Welfare Services, Europa Donna Cyprus and AIPFE Cyprus.

Environmental Responsibility and Sustainability Strategy

In terms of the environment, Nicosia Mall has proceeded with the installation and operation of a 2MW photovoltaic system, which covers approximately 30% of the shopping centre’s total electricity consumption. Our goal is to have a zero environmental footprint by 2030.
