Interior Minister and CoE official discuss funding for local administration projects and affordable housing

Minister of Interior, Constantinos Ioannou, met with Vice-Governor for Target Group Countries of the Council of Europe Development Bank, Tomáš Boček, who discussed the possibility of granting funding for Local Administration projects and affordable housing,

According to a press release by the Ministry, the 27 February meeting took place on the sidelines of  Boček's visit to Cyprus to sign the loan agreement to finance the construction of the new Archaeological Museum.

During the meeting, Ioannou informed the CoE official about the comprehensive housing policy designed and implemented by the Ministry of Interior. He said that the state's housing policy is of a social nature and is addressed mainly to socio-economically vulnerable groups of the population with the aim of enhancing their access to affordable housing options. 

The press release adds that Boček welcomed the efforts of the Cypriot government to meet the housing needs of citizens and in particular the goal of increasing the housing in its entirety with an emphasis on affordable housing. 

They agreed that the communication between them will continue in the coming period at a technocratic level, so as to explore ways and fields of cooperation for the development of projects that will benefit the  Cypriot society.
