Memorial and tribute event held in honour of Michael G. Leptos (pics)

A special memorial and tribute event in honour of the late founder of the Leptos Group of Companies, Michael (Michalakis) G. Leptos, has been held at the Coral Beach Hotel & Resort in Paphos.

The Wednesday, 19 February, happening honoured Leptos, a Kyrenia native who had business activities in the fields of real estate development, tourism, land investments, education, and healthcare in Cyprus, Greece, and the Middle East.

The event was honored by the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, as well as of dozens of relatives, friends, and associates from Cyprus and abroad.

Tributes were delivered by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, on behalf of the state, George Leptos on behalf of the Leptos family, and Christodoulos E. Angastiniotis on behalf of friends and colleagues.

All speakers referred to Michael Leptos, a self-made entrepreneur, as a pioneer who had the the ability to turn dreams into reality and achieve his goals, by working together with his colleagues and associates. His real estate projects were specifically cited as having a distinct identity and high aesthetic quality, and characterised by a deep sensitivity towards the natural environment. He was referred to as a visionary, mentor, and an outstanding teacher to his colleagues and associates—a man of integrity who earned the respect and trust of all.

The event also included songs performed by the Choir of the Paphos Music Club that were dedicated to Kyrenia, Paphos and Chania—Leptos' three beloved cities.

A particularly moving moment was the first screening of the documentary 'Michalakis Leptos: Creator and Visionary.'

A photography exhibition dedicated to the life and work of the late Michael Leptos was presented in the resort's Christian Barnard Hall during the event, which included rarely seen photographs of Leptos, as well as images of Kyrenia, Paphos, and Chania.
