Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna is traveling to Poland on Monday to participate in the informal Meeting of the General Affairs Council of the European Union, which will take place on Monday and Tuesday, 17 and 18 February, in Warsaw.

A press release issued from the Secretariat of the Cypriot Presidency of the EU Council 2026, the Council's deliberations will begin on Monday with a dinner, which will also be attended by representatives of candidate and potential candidate countries for EU membership. Their participation is part of addressing the common challenges posed by hybrid threats and their impact on the democratic principles and values of European states.

The informal Meeting of the General Affairs Council continues on Tuesday with a working breakfast, discussing hybrid threats to the enlargement process and exchanging views on ways to respond and potential measures to address them. Representatives from candidate and potential candidate countries for EU membership will also participate in the breakfast.

A discussion will follow among the Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the 27 EU member states regarding the next Multiannual Financial Framework after 2027, during which the views and expectations of the member states will be raised in light of the proposal to be submitted by the European Commission.

The informal Meeting of the General Affairs Council in Warsaw will conclude with a working lunch, discussing ways to strengthen the EU's non-military and military preparedness and readiness, based on the Niinisto report, which concerns a comprehensive approach to crisis management and EU resilience.
